About Dr Anand Jeevarethinam
I undertook my cardiology specialist training at various prestigious hospitals in the UK. These include Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, Royal Papworth Hospital and Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. Following this, I undertook my post-CCT PCI fellowship programme in Portsmouth University Hospital, which is one of the competitive programmes nationally. I have also achieved accreditation in cardiovascular CT.
Research and publications
I was involved in a multi-centre prospective trial: ‘Relationship Between Carotid IMT/Plaque, Endothelial Dysfunction with Coronary Artery Disease Prevalence and Severity in Asymptomatic Diabetes’. This trial aimed to evaluate the correlation between carotid IMT/plaque and endothelial dysfunction with coronary atherosclerosis prevalence and its severity.
This trial was sponsored by the British Cardiac Research Trust and I held a 3-year research grant from the same trust. I recruited patients from three NHS hospitals in North London, leading to the award of an MD (Research degree) from UCL, London. My research has been published in leading medical journals and I have presented my clinical and academic work in various national and international conferences (British Cardiovascular Society, ACI, American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, EuroPCR and CRF CTO Plus).
