Dr Nazan Adali

Consultant in Surgical Orthodontics

Dr Adali is a Consultant in Surgical Orthodontics specialising in Orthognathic Surgery Treatment carried out jointly with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon colleagues. She treats all types of dental, and jaw growth and function issues in children and adults, aesthetic concerns, multidisciplinary treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea and is a subspecialist in the care of patients with cleft lip and palate. Modern digital approaches for better precision are used.

 

She graduated with double honours from GKT Dental Institute, KCL, and, as an accredited university teacher, is a visiting lecturer at KCL Masters programmes in Orthodontics and in Maxillofacial Reconstructive Science. International lecture invitations have recently included The Netherlands and India, and she has been an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons.

 

Dr Adali has received many awards, including by the Wolfson Foundation (first dental student in UK to be awarded the medical scholarship) for a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Immunology at Rayne Institute, St Thomas’ Hospital for research in autoimmunity and disease process in Multiple Sclerosis. She has awards for her work from NHS as clinical excellence awards, British Orthodontic Society, European Orthodontic Society and Craniofacial Society of UK and Ireland.

 

She worked in oral and maxillofacial surgery at UCLH, Great Ormand Street Children’s Hospital and Eastman Dental Hospital, where she was selected for orthodontic speciality training and completed her masters research thesis in cleft treatment, and where she learnt from UK leaders in these subjects. After becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeon’s, she was appointed as an NHS Consultant in 2011 in Luton and Dunstable University Hospitals, where she served on the Clinical Ethics Committee.

 

Dr Adali is an invited Specialty Editorial Review Board member for both the Orthodontics and Maxillofacial Surgery subsections of the Cleft Palate Craniofacial Journal, and has been a scientific peer reviewer since 2007. To stay up to date she regularly attends meetings and conferences around the world.

 

She has a friendly and gentle manner which puts patients at ease, which is important for excellent outcomes.
