Dr Rebecca Lewis MBBS BSc (Hons)

Dr Lewis was raised and educated in and around London. She studied medicine at the esteemed King’s College London, graduating in 2005. During this time, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in anatomy (first class honours), with a career as a surgeon in mind. She then spent over ten years training as a general surgeon in various prestigious hospitals all over London, including The Royal Marsden NHS Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. After developing an interest in the physical and emotional effects of breast reconstruction on patients, she completed subspeciality training in breast cancer surgery. During this time she completed electives in surgery at prominent institutions including Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and NYU in New York. She qualified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 2019, and is on the specialist register for general surgery with the General Medical Council (GMC). She was appointed as a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon in London in 2021.
Throughout her career, she has continually kept her general surgical skills including minor surgery up to date with participation at numerous specialist courses. As part of her practice in advanced breast cancer surgery, Dr Lewis developed a keen eye for detail and excellent cosmetic outcomes, and performs skin and other minor surgery with a strong focus on minimal scarring. She also continues to practice as an NHS doctor, giving back to the system and patients she owes her training to. She has expanded her practice to further areas of women’s health including intrauterine devices. She is a strong advocate for patient safety, and has continued to educate and mentor the next generation of surgeons. The well-being of her clients continues to be at the forefront of her practice.
At HSSH, her areas of practice are the removal of skin cysts, lipomas and other skin lumps, skin biopsies, mole removal, the management of surgical wounds and scar management. She also offers fitting and removal of intrauterine coils and devices, and the removal of contraceptive implants.
