Mr Abhinav Gulihar is a highly experienced and well regarded consultant shoulder and upper limb surgeon practising in the London area. He is a specialist in conditions such as inflammation, arthritis, fractures and sports injuries affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. He has a special interest in minimally invasive and keyhole/arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder to allow early rehabilitation and return to sport. Mr Gulihar’s NHS practice is at King’s College Hospital NHS Trust, one of the leading centres of care within the UK.

Mr Gulihar received his medical qualification in 2003. Afterward, he completed his specialist orthopaedic training in East Midlands and Kent, Surrey, and Sussex before going on to do a fellowship at the prestigious South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre and also undertaking the European Arthroscopy Fellowship. To further his specialist training, Mr Gulihar took the opportunity to learn from several experts in shoulder surgery during visits in Europe and the USA. Notably, Mr Gulihar completed two research degrees: Masters in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University and an MD in joint cartilage research from the University of Leicester.

Whilst using the latest techniques and evidence-based practice, Mr Gulihar always puts an emphasis on patient care in his work. He has a particular interest in education and research in his field, aiding in his continual professional growth, and ultimately bettering patient comfort and outcomes. Mr Gulihar is the current departmental lead for education and training, and he teaches on multiple training courses. This work has won him several research and teaching awards. In addition, Mr Gulihar has dedicated time to have more than 20 published works in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, whilst also presenting at prestigious national and international conferences and meetings.
