Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

Mr Ahid Abood MBBS (Lond), MA (Cantab), MSc (Dist), FRCS (Plast) is a consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon. As well as working as an NHS consultant in Cambridge, Mr Abood also runs a highly successful private practice based in Cambridge and London.

His NHS practice specialises in complex reconstruction after trauma and cancer, whereas in his private practice he undertakes all aspect of cosmetic surgery.

After graduating from the University of Cambridge, he undertook his clinical training at St Mary’s Hospital, London before graduating with distinction as a doctor. He went on to pursue specialist training in plastic surgery, which included being appointed to several renowned international fellowships, including: Microsurgical fellowship at The Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia; a senior microsurgical fellowship at St Andrews Centre, Broomfield; a travelling fellowship to The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York, and a cosmetic fellowship at the McIndoe Surgical Centre, East Grinstead.

On completion of his specialist training, he returned to Cambridge to take up a consultant position with the NHS. He currently leads the major trauma service for the East of England, is a key member of the skin cancer service and was the divisional lead for audit and governance, which helps to ensure quality care for patients.

Dedicated to innovation, Mr Abood keeps himself constantly updated in the latest reconstructive and cosmetic surgical techniques and is actively involved in research and teaching. His research into improving skin cancer treatment methods earnt him an MSc Distinction from University College London and he has been widely published in medical journals and books.

He is a member of The Royal College of Surgeons, The Royal Society of Medicine, the General Medical Council, and the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).

In his spare time, he enjoys running and spending time with his young family.
