Based at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, Mr Jagwant Singh MBBS, MRCS, FRCS (Tr & Orth) is a specialist in upper limb trauma and shoulder and elbow surgery, including joint preservation and replacement and arthroscopic procedures. Dedicated and innovative, he is constantly evolving his own best practice along with tutoring the next generation of orthopaedic specialists.

He undertook his specialist trauma and orthopaedic training on the Royal London rotation which included working at Barts Health NHS Trust’s Shoulder Unit and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital’s Shoulder & Peripheral Nerve Injuries Unit.

A winner of the 2013-14 Freeman Prize, he travelled to the Steadman Clinic & US Olympic Institute, Vail Colorado, and Massachusetts General Hospital’s Harvard Shoulder Unit in 2017 as part of the Royal London Hospital Orthopaedic & Trauma Society (RLHOTS) travelling fellowship. That same year he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and secured a highly prized fellowship at the globally renowned Wrightington Upper Limb Unit.

In 2018, while at Wrightington, he continued to enhance his skills in upper limb surgery and won the John Charnley gold medal. Further experience in techniques such as ‘wide awake’ shoulder surgery was gained at the Nottingham Shoulder and Elbow Unit.

A fellowship awarded by The British Shoulder and Elbow Society in 2018, facilitated visits to US centres of excellence like the Rothman’s Institute and the Mayo Clinic and Mr Singh remains committed to travelling internationally in the interests of research. A good example of this dedication to research is his focus on 3D planning and how patient specific instrumentation can benefit shoulder replacements.

A respected author and speaker, he frequently addresses influential audiences and has been published in many professional journals.
