Professor Heidari MBBS, MSc, FRCS (Tr & Orth) is a highly regarded orthopaedic and trauma surgeon with a particular focus on the treatment of foot and ankle conditions including lower limb reconstruction, sports injuries and trauma. Hugely experienced and caring, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2009 and has been a consultant at The Royal London Hospital since 2012.

Professor Heidari is renowned for his work in limb reconstruction and bone infection, especially when addressing bone fixation failure or infection after a fracture or other cause. He set up a regional Foot and Ankle Unit, a Bone Infection Unit and Orthoplastics Department at The Royal London Hospital and offers a tertiary referral service for complex fractures and fixation and post-surgery infection, on a private basis.

Professor Heidari qualified from St George’s Hospital in 1998 and completed his training at The Royal London Hospital, before gaining further experience at the Bristol Limb Reconstruction Unit in 2011. He has a large roster of international fellowship experience, including: Rothman Institute (Philadelphia), Hospital for Special Surgery (New York), University of Utah Orthopaedic Centre, Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre (California), University Hospital of Lille and Medical University of Graz. In 2012, following his Travelling Fellowship in the USA and Canada, he became a Fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.

With many articles in professional medical publications, Professor Heidari is also a first-class educator. He teaches junior surgeons and on under/post-graduate courses and is an active member of the education group for AO Trauma, a global network aiming to deliver more effective treatment for trauma and musculoskeletal conditions. He is also chairperson of the AO Trauma UK advanced foot fracture course and has been Principal Investigator for several National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) studies at The Royal London Hospital.
