Professor Sandip Hindocha

Professor Sandip Hindocha currently holds a substantive post as a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, Cosmetic, Laser & Hand Surgeon at Bedford NHS Trust where he is the clinical director of the plastic surgery & laser centre and is the chair of theatres board. He is a visiting professor at the University of Bedfordshire. His clinical experience expands over 17 years. Professor Hindocha is on the GMC specialist register for Plastic Surgery.

Professor Hindocha has carried out a wide range of cosmetic procedures including breast augmentation, breast uplift, breast reduction, body contouring (abdominoplasty, liposuction, arm lift, thigh lift), facial surgery (including rhinoplasty & ear correction surgery) and male cosmetic surgery. Professor Hindocha has many patient compliments and will frequently provide a second opinion for patients who have complex needs.

Professor Hindocha also performs many other plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures including breast reconstruction following breast cancer surgery, surgery for skin conditions including skin cancer and all aspects of hand surgery. He is registered and recognised by all the major health insurance companies.

Professor Hindocha qualified from the University of Manchester in 2005 and his training has taken place in Manchester, Liverpool, USA (Dallas) and Canada (Toronto). In addition to his plastic surgery training he has completed a recognised cosmetic surgery fellowship program. Professor Hindocha is highly academic within the field of plastic, reconstructive, aesthetic, laser and hand surgery. He has published several book chapters, over 100 peer reviewed scientific articles and presented his work at a national & international level. He also teaches other junior plastic surgeons and set up the Bedford FRCS(plast) course.

Professor Hindocha has won several academic prizes for his work in plastic surgery including the prestigious Society of Academic Research Surgeons award in 2009. Professor Hindocha is a member of the British Association of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons (BAPRAS); the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS); the British Medical Laser Association (BMLA); the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH).

Professor Hindocha is the national lead forensic medical examiner and is a member of the Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine (FFLM). This gives him a keen eye for detail which is crucial in cosmetic surgery.

Outside the operating theatre he is a trained percussionist having played at numerous local gigs. Professor Hindocha is also a keen sportsman having gained black belt in Kosho Ryu Kenpo, which has provided him with a great deal of self-discipline.
