Mr Ali Noorani MBBS BSc (Hons) MRCS FRCS (Trauma & Orth) is a renowned upper limb orthopaedic and trauma surgeon, focusing on the shoulder and elbow. He has treated numerous professional sportspeople and complex sports injuries and trauma cases are regularly referred to him by colleagues.

Mr Noorani graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2000 before working on the Royal London Hospital rotation and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. Specialist fellowship training followed at The Royal Liverpool Hospital on the Upper Limb fellowship programme. He has also trained widely in the US.

Mr Noorani adopts a multidisciplinary approach, using physiotherapy where appropriate, meaning only 20% of his patients need surgery. He uses minimally invasive techniques and believes in accurate diagnosis and clear explanation. He introduced LEAN methodology to the upper limb service and has pioneered innovations such as a one-stop patient assessment clinic and telemedicine techniques. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals, carried out key research and led in trials.

His affiliations include: Royal London Orthopaedic and Trauma Society (founding member); Barts Orthopaedic Fund; European Society for Shoulder & Elbow Rehabilitation (education board); British Shoulder & Elbow Society; British Orthopaedic Association; British Medical Association; Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (review board), and The Royal College of Surgeons (Fellow).

His awards include: the British Shoulder and Elbow Society Fellowship; the British Orthopaedic Association Fellowship, and an AO trauma fellowship to Salzburg.

He is doctor to several sporting bodies, notably at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, and works at a number of prestigious London-based organisations and hospitals.
